Plovdiv is probably the oldest city in Bulgaria. I cannot imagine that it is otherwise. It might as well be the oldest city in Europe, I don't know. As regards the rest of the world – I am not sure about it.
Now, imagine that inside this city, which is, as we already agreed, very old, there is a place, which, to make the effect even stronger, is called The Old Plovdiv – and we are going right there to see what happens. There is a barrier for the cars – compliments on the municipality. There are tourists on a busy winter weekday, compliments again. You can hear
some Italian coming from I don't know where. The typical Plovdiv speech can be heard, too. Many Turkish words are used, such as Djumayata, Bunardjik, Kichuka, Nebet tepe ... This is a city with diverse cultural heritage. Actually, I have always associated the word „culture“ with the city of Plovdiv.
Thracians, Byzantines, Turks, Russians – many people have gone through this place, and our people even prepared it for the capital of the country. You should go there and see it for yourself. And, as you know, the Ancient Theatre comes first.
